What is German Online Cubing 2020?

German Online Cubing 2020 is a Speedcubing Competition. Speedcubing is the activity of solving a Rubiks Cube or related puzzles as quickly as possible. Due to the current situation, we will hold this competition in an online format. Unfortunately this does mean that the results and podiums CANNOT be counted as official WCA results.

This competition is kindly sponsored by Rubik's.

Where and when?

05-06 December 2020

The competition will be conducted online! 3x3x3 Finals will be hosted live on Twitch on 6th December at 4 PM (CET), so tune in! The competitors of the 3x3x3 finals will find the detailed rules regarding the procedure here.

How can I compete?

To compete just fill out the registration form. There is no participation fee and no competitor limit. Please note that you only qualify for a podium place if you film all of your solves in the final round; further information regarding this can be found in the regulations. There you will also find the scrambles and the link to the result submission sheet.

Where can I find the results of the competition?

The results of the first rounds will be made public during the evening of 5th December and can then be found here. The competitors that proceed into the following rounds will be informed via mail in addition to the upload of the results. The results of the second round of 3x3x3 will be published during the day on 6th of December here and the final results will be published on the evening of 6th December here.

Can I win something?

Rubik's sponsers the following prizes:
  • • 1x Rubik's Connected for each the first and the second place in the 3x3x3 Cube.
  • • 1x Rubik's Race for the first, second and third place in the 3x3x3 Cube.
  • • 3x Rubik's Speedcube and 2x Rubik's Race will be given to the best five participants in our Prediction Game!
Everyone - no matter whether you want to compete or not - is invited to make a guess in our Prediction Game! You can guess what the 3x3x3 winning average will be. The five closest predictions will be rewarded with a prize! The following rules apply:
  • • To compete just enter your guess HERE and send us the completed form!
  • You can enter ONE guess per person. In case someone sends several predictions we will only consider the prediction that was submitted last.
  • • You can enter your predictions until December 6th, 4 PM (CET).
  • • Please enter your guessed time in the format of ss.tt (only dots, no comma!), so for example 21.65 seconds or 5.98 seconds.
  • • Prizes will be distributed among the five participants whose guessed average is closest to the actual 3x3 winning average - no matter whether the time lies above or below the winning average.
  • • If there are identical results among the best guesses in a way that no clear five winners can be identified we will draw a winner among the participants with identical guesses.
  • • We will contact the winners of the prediction game in the next few days after the competition using the entered mail address to request your address for sending the prize to you. If there is no reply within one week after contacting you, your entitlement to the prize expires and we will contact the person with the next closest guess in the list.
  • • Due to the higher shipping cost into other countries we only pay for the shipping to destinations in Germany. If you live in another country, you can participate and win the prize, but you will have to pay the shipping fee.

For Beginners...

This competition will NOT be an official WCA-sanctioned competition. Nevertheless we ask all of our competitiors to be familiar with the official rules of the WCA before the competition starts in order to follow the rules as closely as possible despite the online format. You can find further information regarding the procedure for the competition at Regulations.
