East-German Open 2010

East-German Open 2010 is an official speedcubing championship. Speedcubing has been around for a while already and describes the activity of solving a Rubik's Cube as fast as possible.

There are plenty of speedcubing competitions taking place around the world each year. But East-German Open 2010 is the first one in Germany to take place outside of Nordrhein-Westfalen (federal state of Germany).

Important notice

For financial reasons, we had to increase the entrance fee from 5 euros to 7 euros per competitor per day.

Since we already received 60 registrations, we decided to close the registration. Anybody who wants to register will be put on a waiting list and has the possibility to compete if someone else decides not to.

What does it cost to participate?

Each competitor will pay 7 euros per day; guests (i.e. friends or parents of registered competitors) will also pay 5 Euros. Registration will be closed on August 13 or as soon as 60 competitors are registered.

Never been to a speedcubing competition before?

Beginners are very welcome at the competition and there will be enough time to become familiar with the official equipment (stackmat timer). Experienced cubers will be happy to answer your questions and to assist you in any concerns. Since East-German Open 2010 is an official WCA competition, each competitor should have read the WCA regulations before starting to compete.

Where to stay?

Dresden is a beautiful city and always worth a visit. There are plenty of places to stay over night at reasonable prices. Have a look at:

Youth Hostel Rudi Arndt (hostel): Within walking distance to our venue (12 minutes). Starting at 16 Euros per night.

A&O Hostels Dresden (hostel): Also within walking distance (15 minutes). Starting at 12 Euros per night.

Lollis Homestay (hostel): Located in the middle of Dresden Neustadt, the place to be if you like to party. Starting at 13 Euros per night.

What can I win?

Each competitor will get a 10%-off voucher from Cubikon (cubing online shop) and a cube bag. There will be additional prices from Cubikon. The first three competitors of each category will receive a certificate.
